AccentCare Boosts C-Suite: Dallas Company Appoints CFO, Promotes M.D. as Chief Medical Officer

Under new CEO Laura Tortorella, Dallas-based post-acute care provider AccentCare is making strategic appointments to strengthen leadership and advance patient-centric strategy. Tortorella took the reins from long-time CEO Steve Rodgers in a planned transition last October.

National post-acute provider AccentCare has expanded its C-suite, promoting veteran leader Dr. Balu Natarajan to chief medical officer while appointing healthcare finance executive Saurabh Gupta as its new chief financial officer.

The moves come on the heels of Laura Tortorella taking AccentCare’s CEO reins last October in a planned transition.

Tortorella notes
Dr. Natarajan’s “exceptional leadership and medical expertise” and commitment to putting patients first during 15 years as the company’s hospice CMO. The M.D. will now oversee all clinical operations and patient experience initiatives. As chief medical officer, he will work to advance AccentCare’s delivery of “high-quality, consistent, and connected care,” Tortorella said.

According to AccentCare, Dr. Natarajan brings deep expertise in hospice and palliative medicine, lecturing internationally on the topic. In a statement, Dr. Natarajan said he intends to promote innovation and positive outcomes by keeping “the patient’s voice” central to AccentCare’s model.

Meanwhile, Tortorella said CFO Gupta, who joined AccentCare on Jan. 8., brings a track record of “driving financial strength and business innovation.” Gupta most recently served as CFO of Envision Medical Group, where he led a major operating model overhaul and strengthened performance, the company said.

Prior to that, Gupta was SVP of Financial Planning & Analysis at Steward Health Care, a leading accountable care organization where Tortorella previously served as COO. He has also held planning, finance, and strategy roles at major companies like Alcon, Novartis, and American Airlines earlier in his career.

Gupta, who reports directly to Tortorella, said he looks forward to accelerating the company’s growth trajectory.

According to the company, its latest executive appointments come as AccentCare drives forward its goal of providing “understanding, empathetic, and excellent” post-acute healthcare coast-to-coast. With some 30,000 caregivers across 31 states, AccentCare offers a range of post-acute services including home health, hospice, and personal care.
