Plano-based teleCalm Inc. said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it has raised $284,000 of $400,000 debt only funding round.
According to the filing, the minimum investment is $5,000. TeleCalm — a member of the May 2016 Tech Wildcatters class — offers a managed phone service for seniors with cognitive issues, allowing them to stay connected and giving caregivers peace of mind.
TeleCalm’s CEO and President Tavis Schriefer told Dallas Innovates in March that the company raised $150,000 as an initial preseed investment that allowed it to develop and launch the service. In March, TeleCalm had raised 39 percent of the $400,000 goal.
Schriefer founded the company because of his personal experience in caring for a loved one with dementia.
“My mom loved talking on the phone with friends and family, but was having increasing difficulty with the features and functionality of her smartphone and cordless phone at home,” he told Dallas Innovates in March.
At that time, he was in discussions with private angels, angel groups, and family offices.
