Sometimes quality is more important than quantity, and a Dallas-based startup has launched an app to promote that very thing in a mobile dating game featuring a bracket of potential matches.
Entrepreneur Whitney Linscott has dived into the online dating scene with her new app called Bracket Dating. Its design is based on the same type of brackets used in the NCAA college basketball tournament.
“We keep the fun factor high by turning the job of finding a date into a game, but we also make it effective by eliminating the excessive matching on sites like Tinder and Bumble,” Linscott told D Magazine.
“What’s better than winning? On Bracket, you always feel like a winner.”

Every day, users get a bracket of 16 potential matches, and from there they must whittle down the matches until a winner is declared. When the last man or woman is standing, a chat will open up.
“What’s better than winning? On Bracket, you always feel like a winner. Whether you’ve been chosen as a winner for another user’s bracket, or you get a chat back from your own bracket winner of the day, it feels great knowing impersonal, unconscious swiping was not involved,” Whitney told Elite Daily.
The app is packed with questions for users such as, “If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be and why?” and, “If you were a geometric shape what would you be?”
The goal of the app is to get users off of the dating app and on a meaningful in-person date, the company said.
Linscott’s app is just one of the many online dating startups to launch here in Dallas, one being the industry giant Match.com.
The app is available nationwide for iOS users in the App Store.
