Tracey Brown
Dallas-based VertexOne, a leading provider of cloud software “designed to revolutionize the customer experience within the energy and utility industry,” has appointed Tracey Brown as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Brown joins VertexOne with more than two decades of executive leadership experience, including most recently at Vertafore, an Ohio-based global tech company serving the insurance industry. Her background spans P&L leadership, organizational transformation, and human capital management in complex, regulated environments, VertexOne said.
Brad Almond, board member and interim CEO at VertexOne, said his company “conducted a thorough and deliberate search, and in Tracey we found the leader VertexOne needs.”
“VertexOne has been on a steady path, deepening our operational capabilities, strengthening our focus on client success, and building the world-class execution capability our clients depend on,” Almond added in a statement. “Tracey brings the leadership to advance that direction. Her ability to navigate organizational complexity, build aligned teams, and commit for the long term made her the standout choice.”
Almond added that VertexOne is proud of what it has built via “organic growth and strategic acquisitions,” and is confident of Tracey’s leadership “through this next stage of transformation and rapid growth.”
Almond stepped into the interim CEO role after Andrew Jornod left the top post in December, after nearly 11 years leading the company. Jornod remains a strategic advisor to VertexOne, according to his LinkedIn page.
Joins company amid accelerated digital transformation of utility and energy sectors
Brown is joining VertexOne as the utility and energy sector accelerates its digital transformation, driven by rising customer expectations, increased regulatory pressure, and necessary operational efficiency, VertexOne noted.
The new CEO will focus on deepening client experience, strengthening execution, and advancing the innovation roadmap that defines VertexOne’s next chapter, the company said.
“I’m thrilled to join VertexOne,” Brown said. “I’ve spent my career stepping into complex, regulated environments where aligning people, strategy, and execution can unlock, not just growth, but potential for industry transformation. VertexOne is positioned to shape what the industry’s next chapter looks like, and that’s an opportunity I’m fully committed to.”
Keith Pennell is a managing partner of VertexOne’s principal investor, DFW Capital Partners.
“We’re excited to welcome Tracey and are confident she brings the leadership and operational depth to accelerate VertexOne’s growth,” Pennell said in a statement.
VertexOne said it has more than three decades of experience and 400 customers in the cloud, providing a wide range of innovative solutions for digital transformation, revenue optimization, and data-driven efficiency operations for utilities, energy retailers, and energy transition providers.
