BNSF Logistics Promotes Its COO to President and CEO

David Ivan has more than 25 years of experience in leading complex, multi-site operations spanning manufacturing, logistics, and global supply chains, Dallas-based BNSF said.

Dallas-based BNSF Logistics, a leading multi-modal third-party logistics service provider, has appointed David Ivan as its president and chief executive officer, effective immediately.

“I’m excited to step into this new role at BNSF Logistics and to continue to work alongside such an exceptional team, focused on positioning us for long-term growth,” Ivan said in a statement. “I’m committed to investing in our people, technology and process excellence to create meaningful value for our customers and partners and am determined to keep that drive at the heart of everything we do.”

Ivan has more than 25 years of experience in leading complex, multi-site operations across manufacturing, logistics, and global supply chains. Known for his hands-on leadership style and data-driven approach, Ivan has a track record of delivering significant improvements in operating profit, working capital, safety, and customer performance through lean transformation, strategic planning, and organizational development, BNSF Logistics said.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Ivan served in senior operational leadership roles across a range of global organizations, including chief operating officer positions at BNSF Logistics and at Vestas, where he led large-scale transformations of multi-billion-dollar businesses. His expertise includes scaling operations during periods of rapid growth, integrating acquisitions, restructuring cost bases, and aligning global teams around clear performance metrics and strategic priorities, the company said.

BNSF Logistics is a subsidiary of Fort Worth-based Burlington Northern Santa Fe, a Berkshire Hathaway company. BNSF Logistics is a multi-modal, third-party logistics services provider specializing in movement of freight around the globe and focused on outstanding service scope, resources, and financial depth. The company operates more than 40 offices across North America, with more than 120 FCPA-certified Global Service Providers (GSPs) for import and export of general and project cargoes throughout the world.
