OmniOn Power Appoints Semiconductor Industry Veteran as President and CEO

David French’s appointment follows the resignation of Jeff Schnitzer, the company’s previous president and CEO, in August.

Veteran executive David French has been appointed president and CEO of OmniOn Power, bringing decades of semiconductor and electronics experience to the Plano-based power conversion company.

French succeeds Jeff Schnitzer, who resigned in August.

Formerly known as the ABB Power Conversion division, the Plano company was acquired in 2023 for $505 million by AcBel Polytech Inc. It unveiled its new OmniOn Power brand identity later that year.

The company said French adds deep electronic device design and manufacturing expertise that will help drive technological innovation and strengthen OmniOn’s position in the global power supply market.

“With a history of high-quality design and manufacturing in the power conversion industry, OmniOn Power possesses tremendous potential to capitalize on the resurging growth prospects in the power electronics landscape,” French said in a statement. “I look forward to applying my background towards accelerating growth with OmniOn’s innovative power solutions.”

French brings more than 40 years of leadership experience in semiconductors and electronics.

Before OmniOn, he led NXP’s Mobile and Computing Business Unit; earlier, he served as CEO of Cirrus Logic, where he led the company’s transformation into a global leader in mixed-signal audio solutions. He has also held senior roles at Texas Instruments and Analog Devices.

OmniOn Power provides power conversion technology and partners with customers to deliver reliable solutions for today’s needs and future growth.
