The Ultimate Splash Pad?: Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Arlington’s New Island Playground Goes Texas Big

At 58,000 square feet, Splash Island is the largest investment in the park’s history—and includes what the Arlington CVB calls the tallest multi-level play structure of its kind in North America. Check it out in our gallery.

The largest water park in North Texas has gone even bigger.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Arlington has opened Splash Island, a massive new addition the company calls the largest investment in the park’s history.

The 58,000-square-foot family-focused play zone brings a wave of oversized features—including a Texas-sized tipping bucket that dumps 1,000 gallons of water every cycle.

Splash Island has opened at Hurricane Harbor in Arlington.

At 50 feet tall with 110 interactive water features and 17 slides, the multi-level play structure is the tallest of its kind in North America, according to the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“Splash Island was designed with our families in mind,” said Hurricane Harbor Park Manager Heather Blair in a statement. “It provides tons of fun for kids and parents alike, and a place for everyone to relax in the nearby cabanas.”

Those cabanas are super-sized, too—double-decker setups that surround the splash pad alongside beach décor inspired by Galveston. The entire lower level of the structure is wheelchair accessible, the CVB said. The broader park also got a refresh with new paint, landscaping, and remodeled restrooms.

After climbing slides and dodging splash guns, guests can cool off with an upgraded food lineup. The reimagined Smokehouse on the Water now serves in-house smoked brisket and pulled pork seasoned with a custom spice blend, according to the CVB.

The menu also features house-made mac and cheese, chopped salad, cornbread, and kid-friendly staples like chicken tenders.

The park is open daily through Labor Day, with more than 40 water attractions beyond Splash Island, including Typhoon Twister and Tsunami Surge. Neighboring Six Flags Over Texas offers more than 100, including roller coasters like the New Texas Giant and Titan.
