The Dallas Foundation Announces 2024 Pegasus Prize Finalists

The Pegasus Prize recognizes nonprofits that apply creative, data-driven, and cost-effective solutions to persistent challenges impacting Dallas County residents. On Nov. 8, finalists will pitch their ideas to attendees of The Dallas Foundation’s Rising GENerosity Launch Party and Pegasus Prize Pitch event.

The Dallas Foundation has announced the finalists for 2024’s Pegasus Prize, a $50,000 social innovation grant awarded to organizations breaking new ground in addressing community needs.

The Pegasus Prize recognizes nonprofits that apply creative, data-driven, and cost-effective solutions to persistent challenges impacting Dallas County residents.

“Our mission with the Pegasus Prize is to spotlight and resource organizations that are redefining solutions to long-standing challenges in our community,” Vickie Allen, chief impact officer of The Dallas Foundation, said in a statement. “This award is about more than just funding; it’s a celebration of innovation and a commitment to helping Dallas thrive by investing in ideas that lead to lasting, meaningful change.”

The first community foundation in Texas, The Dallas Foundation is a steward of philanthropic resources with a long history of fueling impactful, sustainable change in Greater Dallas. As a testament to that mission, the Pegasus Prize not only provides critical financial support but also elevates the recipient’s visibility, creating opportunities for additional community investments and endorsement of their work’s importance.

The foundation said that since its inception, the Pegasus Prize has supported significant, life-changing organizations such as Bonton Farms, After8toEducate, Yoga N Da Hood, 2S Industries, Family Compass, and FreeWorld. It said the investments highlight the foundation’s commitment to identifying and supporting initiatives that drive real progress for Dallas.

This year’s Pegasus Prize finalists are:

  • buildingcommunity WORKSHOP, a community design center seeking to improve the livability and viability of communities through the practice of thoughtful and accessible design.
  • HOPE Farm, which works directly with parents and teachers to create accountability and a life plan for each individual, guiding at-risk boys towards becoming men of integrity.
  • Spin the Spectrum, which is dedicated to the active inclusion of Autistic/Neurodivergent individuals in society through instructional and vocational programs on DJ education and music production.

On November 8, finalists will pitch their innovative ideas to attendees of The Dallas Foundation’s Rising GENerosity Launch Party and Pegasus Prize Pitch event. The foundation’s Rising GENerosity Initiative inspires and empowers a new generation of changemakers eager to learn, engage, and expand their impact through strategic, intentional and collaborative philanthropy.

The foundation said that invited guests will vote on which organization should receive the $50,000 grant, followed by a live check presentation to the selected nonprofit organization.

Founded in 1929, The Dallas Foundation brings together people, ideas, and investments in Greater Dallas so individuals and families can reach their full potential. During the foundation’s history, it has granted over $1.2 billion to the full spectrum of community-centered causes.
