Tim Hortons, the beloved Canadian coffeehouse and restaurant chain, has attracted loyal fans for decades at over 5,000 locations in 15 countries. But it’s never set its sights on Dallas-Fort Worth—until now.
North Texas’ first Tim Hortons is coming to the Dallas suburb of Coppell in 2024, according to the Dallas Business Journal, which cited a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration.
Founded in 1964 by Canadian hockey player Tim Horton and his business partner Jim Charade, the cult-favorite coffeehouse is known for “the best coffee in Canada,” its trademark variety of donut holes called “TimBits,” and its innovative drinks like Gingerbread Oatmilk Cold Brew and non-alcoholic Baileys Lattes.
The chain is also known for other innovations, from its mobile ordering app to its efficient drive-thru system. For breakfast fast-trackers, there are “scrambled egg pastries” to be had as well as bagels and other egg sandwiches, along with baked goods and merchandise to take home as mementos (including a holiday “SnowPal” coffee mug shaped like a snowman with a tiny Tim Hortons coffee cup in his little pocket.
“Coppell holds a special place in my journey within the DFW area, and I’ve been a fan of the community since the inception of our expansion plans,” Emad Lakhany, chief development officer of CSM Group, the Houston franchisee behind the DFW opening, told the DBJ. “The demographics of Coppell align seamlessly with the values of Tim Hortons. We believe in providing the community with quality products at a value-driven price, and Coppell perfectly reflects these ideals.”
It won’t be the first Tim Hortons in Texas, however: three locations have opened in the Houston area since 2021.
By the way, if you try the brand and become a fan next year, you may join others in referring to it as simply Tim’s, Timmie’s, or Hortons. Sounds fun, eh?
