.…courting tech innovators at the recent Up.Summit hosted in North Texas.
On Friday, Abbott addressed more than 250 CEOs, industry innovators, investors, political leaders, and military officials gathered at Circle T Ranch just outside Fort Worth for the invite-only UP.Summit. The three-day event—once described by a co-creator as “Sun Valley meets CES meets the Oshkosh Airshow meets Burning Man meets TED meets Davos“—convened minds, money, and mobility tech from across the globe.
Abbott joined Perot Group Chairman Ross Perot Jr. (at left in photo above) for a fireside chat on the final day of the summit. The invitation-only UP.Summit at the Perot family's Circle T Ranch in Westlake brought together minds, money, and mobility tech from around the world last week. UP.Partners' "moving world" ecosystem also includes a VC arm investing in transportation tech companies "that make you say, 'Hell yes!'" and a venture lab ranked No. 7 in Fast Company.

Richardson-based Tech Titans has announced the newest additions to its board of directors. Tech Titans is the largest technology trade association in Texas, representing a quarter million employees through its 300 member companies. The organization says it strengthens the North Texas’ technology community and its reputation by acting as the innovation hub for entrepreneurs, universities, and corporations. The group recently hosted its signature event, the 2022 Tech Titans Awards, where it announced the 22 fastest-growing North Texas companies and honored the award's 43 finalists. Tarleton State University received the go-ahead for a new biotechnology institute as part of Texas A&M-Fort Worth's burgeoning downtown research campus. Approved in mid-August by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents, the biotech institute is situated in one of the nation's fastest-growing life sciences hubs. "More than 5,000 biotechnology manufacturing and research and development firms — think Novartis, Alcon, AstraZeneca — call Texas home," according to the university. And DFW now ranks seventh in the U.S. for life science and biotech jobs.
