Energy and utility services innovator ELM is constructing a new, 125,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in The Colony for its MicroGrid and Solar divisions.
When fully operational, Illinois-based ELM said the facility will employ more than 100 clean-energy professionals, including engineering, production technicians, customer service, sales, and management employees.
“Global interest and demand for renewable energy solutions have positioned ELM Companies for significant growth. This expansion in Texas will allow us to meet the needs of our current and future clients,” Lee C Graves, chairman and founder of ELM, said in a statement.
The addition of this production facility will expand the total production footprint for ELM’s MicroGrid division to almost 200,000 square feet of space in Texas and Oklahoma and will expand production capacity to 500 units per year, the company said.

ELM started by offering underground locating services to utilities in Montana. It has since grown to a team of over 1,000 people with offices in 18 states and operations globally. ELM said it has developed and diversified into innovative and sophisticated solutions for energy and utility services that ensure safety, compliance with regulations, grid reliability, and streamline distribution.
Founded in 1991, the ELM Companies provide utility infrastructure management solutions. The company’s four business specialties that can utility and energy needs through a single partnership. Based in Illinois, the company has a corporate office in Lewisville. Its four business segments are: ELM Utility Services, ELM Launchpoint, ELM Microgrid and ELM Solar. The company aims to be a leading partner for companies across America. Its products and services used among hospitality, healthcare, safety, utilities, manufacturing, construction, and private residences, the company said.

The Solar Company, a Dallas-based startup founded in 2021, has partnered with Granite Redevelopment Properties LP to install a 15-megawatt, 40,000-panel system across 16 of GRP's "all bills paid" apartment communities in Dallas and Tarrant counties.
