Determination of pulley ratio of a belt-drive blower
Patent No. 11150162

Inventor(s): Rakesh Goel (Irving, TX), Shiliang Wang (Dallas, TX)
Assignee(s): Lennox Industries Inc. (Richardson, TX)
Law Firm: Baker Botts L.L.P. (Local + 8 other metros)
Application No., Date, Speed: 16885875 on 05/28/2020 (509 days app to issue)

Abstract: An HVAC system includes a blower. The blower includes a driven pulley and a motor with a driver pulley. A motor drive supplies electrical power to the motor. A controller receives a benchmark rate of the flow of air provided by the blower and a corresponding benchmark output current of the motor drive associated with operation of the blower at a test condition. A benchmark input power corresponding to the benchmark output current is determined based on a predetermined relationship between input power and output current for the motor drive. A ratio of the benchmark rate of the flow of air provided by the blower to the benchmark input power is determined. The controller determines a pulley ratio for the blower based on this ratio. The pulley ratio corresponds to the ratio of a diameter of the driven pulley to a diameter of the driver pulley of the blower.

Inventor(s): Casey Thomas Morrison (San Jose, CA), Pakyiu Leung (Hayward, CA)
Assignee(s): TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED (Dallas, TX)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 16856174 on 04/23/2020 (544 days app to issue)

Abstract: Differing widths of retimers are developed using differing numbers of individual retimer elements combined together. To maintain synchronous operation, various signals are provided between the individual retimer elements to allow synchronization of the various operations. A first signal is a wired-OR signal that is used for event and operation synchronization. A second set of signals form a serial bus used to transfer proper state information and operation correction data from a master retimer element to slave timer elements. The combination of the wired-OR signal and the serial bus allow the various state machines and operations inside each retimer element to be synchronized, so that the entire width of the link is properly synchronized.

Method to recover encrypted structured files
Patent No. 11151277

Inventor(s): Adam Meek (Richardson, TX), Qin Ye (Frisco, TX)
Assignee(s): EMC IP HOLDING COMPANY LLC (Hopkinton, MA)
Law Firm: Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP (14 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 16522441 on 07/25/2019 (817 days app to issue)

Abstract: A method for recovering encrypted content from structured files is provided. During an encryption process, a known pattern of metadata may be inserted into each of a set of headers of the encrypted content and each of a set of footers of the encrypted content. The processing logic may insert the encrypted content into a structured file and subsequently (e.g., during an attempt to access the content) detect that a structure of the structured file has been damaged. The encrypted content may be identified by identifying one or more of the set of headers and one or more of the set of footers of the encrypted content. In this way, the method allows for partial recovery of encrypted content and prevents total loss of the content in situations where the structure of the file including the encrypted content is damaged.

Abstract: Integration of self-biased magnetic circulators with microwave devices is disclosed herein. In microwave and other high-frequency radio frequency (RF) applications, a magnetic circulator can be implemented with a smaller permanent magnet. Aspects disclosed herein include a process flow for producing a self-biased circulator in an integrated circuit chip. In this regard, a magnetic circulator junction can be fabricated on an active layer of a semiconductor wafer. A deep pocket or cavity is formed in an insulating substrate under the active layer. This cavity is then filled with a ferromagnetic material such that the circulator junction is self-biased within the integrated circuit chip, eliminating the need for an external magnet. The self-biased circulator provides high isolation between ports in a smaller integrated circuit.

Low power oscillator with digital amplitude control
Patent No. 11152890

Inventor(s): Sudipto Chakraborty (Plano, TX)
Assignee(s): International Business Machines Corporation (Armonk, NY)
Law Firm: Scully, Scott, Murphy Presser, P.C. (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 16800348 on 02/25/2020 (602 days app to issue)

Abstract: A voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) circuit employing digital amplitude control of the output oscillating signal and method of operation. The digital control is provided by an analog to digital converter (ADC) element that is shared among many other operating blocks in a system. In a configuration, the oscillator current is obtained by implementing transistors in a linear region and controlling them digitally. The optimum amplitude detection is performed by measuring the DC voltage at the common mode nodes in the oscillator, and is realized using reduced time compared to an extensive frequency measurement over a long time window. The digital control is implemented using an on-chip regulator, and employs digital controls for adjusting the current consumption which leads to low on-chip area overhead, low cost, and a scalable implementation. In an implementation, a one-time code can be obtained for optimum phase noise operation when providing the digital amplitude control.

Abstract: An electronic assembly includes a PCB disposed on an end-face of a motor proximate to a first surface thereof and a thermal management assembly (TMA) thermally connected to the PCB. One or more switching semiconductor devices are disposed on the first surface. The TMA includes a cooling jacket disposed around a circumference of the motor, at least one jacket manifold formed through the cooling jacket, a thermal compensation base layer thermally coupled to the cooling jacket and the one or more switching semiconductor devices, and a cooling manifold disposed through the PCB to form a fluid flow path therethrough. The at least one jacket manifold has a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. Two or more electrically insulated posts, each having a cooling channel, are disposed between the at least one jacket manifold and the cooling manifold and form a fluid circuit between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet.
