Due to the rolling power outages and the forecast for additional snow on Wednesday, the Women Leading Tech & Innovation virtual event has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 8 a.m. If you already have a ticket, all purchases will be honored and no action is required on your end, according to the organizers.
D CEO, in partnership with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, will host the upcoming “Women Leading Tech & Innovation: A Virtual Conversation on Forging the Future” event, which will be the business publication’s first-ever breakfast panel on the topic.
Female leaders who are Dallas-Fort Worth’s leading thinkers, pioneers, and executives paving the way for more women in STEM will be part of the event on February 24. The panel includes leaders from Imprimis Group, Inc, Capital One, Samsung, and CASPR Group.
The goal of the multi-platform event to increase representation of women in tech, while also providing a megaphone for leaders to share their stories and help build the pipeline of the future, according to the event page.

The panelists also plan to discuss what’s needed to close the gender gap in STEM in North Texas.
The virtual event will take place on February 24, at 8 a.m. Prior to the panel, there will be a 30-minute virtual networking session open to attendees.
The experts that will be featured on the panel include:
Valerie Freeman, CEO of Imprimis Group, Inc
Freeman is the Founder and CEO of a group of specialized companies whose services include staffing, search, outsourcing, project management, and consulting, which operate under the brand names Imprimis Group, BravoTech, Freeman+Leonard, and ANSERteam.
Freeman is also a Founder of the Texas Women Ventures family of funds and serves on its Investment Committee. TWV is an independent, private equity firm that provides growth capital to women-owned and -led companies. She is also the Vice Chair of the Board of Prime Women Media which publishes www.primewomen.com, an online publication for professional women over the age of 50.
Marissa Horne, VP of Technology for Financial Services at Capital One
Horne’s responsibilities include all technology governance, labor strategy, associate engagement, learning and development, communications, and the Cyber, Tech, Data and Risk program for FS Tech & Data through her role as the vice president of the Financial Services Tech & Data Top of House Command Center.
Horne is also the Accountable Executive for Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging for FS Tech & Data and OneTech Dallas, Capital One’s recruiting pipeline for senior associate- to senior manager-level software and data engineers in the DFW area. Horne serves as a Strategic Advisor for the enterprise Blacks in Tech business resource group for Capital One.
Horne also currently sits on the Board of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanic Gardens and the Center for Brainhealth in Dallas.
Before joining Capital One, Horne spent almost 10 years at American Airlines leading teams in technology leadership, human capital and financial management, and strategy development.
Janet Lee, VP of Mobile Marketing at Samsung
Lee originally joined Samsung Electronics America in 2017. In her current position as the vice president and head of Mobile Marketing at Samsung, she leads mobile device marketing for the U.S. market and is in charge of developing and executing brand strategies for the company’s mobile devices.
Prior to joining Samsung, Lee held marketing and brand strategy positions at Shiseido, Elizabeth Arden, and L’Oréal.
Gail Warrior, CASPR Group
Warrior is an executive, entrepreneur, certified Executive Life Coach, fitness enthusiast, and board member with over 25 years in the health and wellness, executive coaching, construction, and oil industries.
Warrior has previously held leadership positions with CASPR Group, Warrior Elements, Warrior Group, and Mobil Oil Corp. Currently, Warrior is the Executive Chairwoman of CASPR Group, which offers indoor surface and air purification solutions that eliminate pathogens from commercial environments.
