North Texas’ reputation as an aviation center got a boost today when Amazon announced plans to open an innovative Regional Air Hub at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport.
Construction has already begun on a new facility in the city of Haslet to house the Regional Air Hub for Amazon Air, formerly known as Prime Air. Haslet, which sits in both Tarrant and Denton counties, is already home to an Amazon fulfillment center.
The facility is projected to be operational next year, according to a news release, and could create hundreds of jobs in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Amazon said the Regional Air Hub will be constructed with the future in mind and will have sortation capabilities and infrastructure able to handle multiple flights daily. It will be designed specifically for Amazon Air’s larger-scale regional needs.
Amazon’s first branded aircraft, Amazon One, took to the air in 2016, and the company operates 40 aircraft in its fleet at over 20 facilities across the country.
“Haslet is very happy and excited to welcome another Amazon facility to our city,” Mayor Bob Golden said. “Amazon has been an awesome partner and we look forward to expanding that relationship in the future.”
Dallas-based Hillwood—an industrial, commercial, and residential real estate developer—will be developing the site.
“As one of the world’s most influential retail, technology, and supply chain logistics companies,” Hillwood Executive Vice President Bill Burton said, “Amazon’s selection of Fort Worth Alliance Airport will continue to transform the airport’s role within the region.”
