The Last Word: WalletHub Analyst On Best Places to Start a Business in 2024

Fort Worth is the top city in Texas, and three other North Texas cities made the top tier.

on a new report of the best places to start a business in 2024. Four North Texas cities ranked in the Top 25. 

For entrepreneurs and small biz owners, it can be “especially important  to live in a city that provides an environment where new businesses can thrive,” Happe says. That means “enough capital, workers, and customers to keep it going long-term.

A new study by WalletHub ranks 100 U.S. cities using 19 key metrics including five-year business-survival rate, labor costs, and more office-space affordability,

North Texas cities Fort Worth (No. 7), Arlington (No. 12), Dallas (No. 14), and Irving (No. 23) all made the Top 25. Elsewhere in Texas, Austin (No. 8) and Lubbock (No. 16) also were in the top quarter.  

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker weighed in on the Panther City ranking. “As Mayor, I’m honored to see Fort Worth recognized as the best large city in Texas to start a business,” she said. “This acknowledgment is a testament to our strong business climate dedicated to cultivating an environment where entrepreneurs can turn their visions into successful businesses.”

Two Florida cities, Orlando and Tampa ranked 1 and 2, respectively.
