Ylang 23 Unveils Luxe New Flagship Jewelry Store in The Shops of Highland Park, Eyes Four Decades of Family-Owned Innovation

Nearly 40 years after opening its first flagship location at Galleria Dallas and 10 years after relocating to Preston Center, the Dallas-based designer jewelry brand has relocated to a new address on Oak Lawn Avenue. It features storytelling elements, "fantasy and folklore" wallpaper, a creamy bouclé seating area, and oh yes—the jewelry. Take a look inside.

Ylang 23, the Dallas-based designer jewelry brand, has had a presence in the city since it opened a Galleria Dallas location in 1985. Now, after 10 years at its Preston Center location, the brand has relocated to The Shops of Highland Park with its new flagship store at 4252 Oak Lawn Avenue.

The brand has something of a multi-generational American Dream story. After Charles Teichman immigrated to the U.S., he met his wife Joanne and they founded Ylang 23 together. (Pronounced “ee-long,” the brand got its number romantically: The Teichmans met on a March 23rd, got engaged on April 23rd, and were married on a November 23rd, all in the same year.)

Now co-owned by their daughter Alysa Teichman as well, Ylang 23 has had high-tech updates in recent years, including the addition of “digital clienteling” and livestream shopping in 2023 via a partnership with Dallas-based Immerss.

AIming for an ‘expansive and luxurious’ setting with new flagship

The new Ylang 23 flagship store aims to offer an “expansive and luxurious” setting. At 3,200 square feet, it features three distinctly different areas.

The entrance offers a creamy bouclé seating area, which leads to a central handmade case featuring close to 20 designers around a pink marble table. That’s flanked by a hospitality bar with vintage glassware and a giant Janet Warner painting behind the cash wrap area.

The back room has a 110-inch red travertine table for entertaining surrounded by a Retrouvaí shop and case line of Foundrae and Cathy Waterman.

Storytelling elements throughout the store highlight the family business story of the Teichmans as well as the designers behind the jewelry.

The store’s design was a collaborative effort between Dallas-based B.Russo Designs New York-based architecture firm MAOarch. Additional credits go to Wield Creative (merchandising), Trace Element (creative), and Kingsmen (millwork).

A full wall of Maison C Coven wallpaper evokes fantasy and folklore and is meant to be “a nod to the power of women,” the brand says.

“We’re thrilled to unveil our new space, a fresh and surprising new direction for Ylang 23,” Alysa Teichman said in a statement. “After nearly four decades of running our family business in Dallas, we take immense pride in continuing to innovate and elevate the experience for our cherished customers. This new chapter is a testament to our commitment to excellence and the vibrant community that has supported us throughout the years.”

The new Ylang 23 flagship is located just a few stores down from its sister company Wildlike, a piercing brand founded by Alysa Teichman in 2021. Wildlike expanded its footprint with a New York City opening in December 2023.

In a statement, Charles Teichman said he is “filled with pride seeing how our business has not only thrived but also become a multi-generational family endeavor. This is an exciting new chapter for our brand, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see my daughter at the helm, continuing our legacy and leading us into the future with her vision and passion.”
