WeWork is once again looking to give a funding boost to creatives all over the world through its Creator Awards and North Texans are eligible to apply.
The New York-based coworking company established the Creator Awards in 2017 to acknowledge and fund creators in all fields from entrepreneurs and performers to startups and nonprofits. Since launching last March, the program has awarded more than $15 million, according to WeWork.
Last June, five Dallas finalists competed at the South Regional Final in Austin, and two women took home $72,000 each in the inaugural Creator Awards.
For this year’s awards, competitors must complete an application on the WeWork website as well as submit a 90-second video about their passion and what they plan on doing with funding if they win. The application deadline is April 10.
There are four categories with varying amounts of funding for the winners of each:
Performing Arts — $18,000-$72,000
Nonprofit — $130,000-$360,000
Business Venture — $130,000-$360,000
Community Giver — $36,000-$130,000
Finalists from the region will be invited to present at the regional semi-final event May 10 in San Francisco.
