U-Haul is out with its list of Top U.S. Growth Cities of 2023, with Dallas ranked among the top 10 destinations for people looking to move for a new start.
Dallas—which ranks No. 9 on the list—is one of three Texas cities in the Top 10, following Austin at No. 5 and College Station-Bryan at No. 6.
Three Florida cities huddled close to the top of the list, with Palm Bay-Melbourne at No. 1, Ocala at No. 2, and Sarasota-Bradenton at No. 4. Charleston-North Charleston, South Carolina, placed No. 3.
U-Haul says it calculates growth cities by each city’s net gain (or loss) of one-way equipment from customer transactions in a calendar year. The U-Haul Growth Index is compiled from more than 2.5 million one-way U-Haul truck, trailer, and U-Box moving container transactions that occur each year across the U.S. and Canada. Neighboring cities in U-Haul markets are often packaged together for migration trends purposes, U-Haul noted.
Only one other Texas city made the Top 25: the Houston suburb of Conroe, which ranks No. 16.
