Dallas’ first skate park south of the Trinity River is one ollie, kickflip, and grind closer to coming to life, thanks to the closing of a $400,000 private fundraise, which will lead to $400,000 in matching public dollars for the planned Westmoreland Park Skate Park. According to a report by the Oak Cliff Advocate, that $800K will be added to $1 million in 2024 bond funds and will cover design and construction of the skate park.

“This is a needed investment in the West Oak Cliff community and a huge step forward in improving park access for our residents,” District 1 Park Board Member JR Huerta told the Advocate. “Providing a quality, accessible public space like this enriches the lives of our families and will serve as a gathering place for years to come.”
