Last month, Dallas-based enCore Energy cut the ribbon on its Rosita ISR Uranium Central Processing Plant & Wellfield in South Texas, with former Texas Governor Rick Perry on hand for the ceremony.
Today, “the newest uranium producer in the United States” ventured to the heart of New York City to ring the opening bell at Nasdaq and hold its first annual Investor Day. Sheriff and Director and CEO Paul Goranson are at center in the photos above and below (Goranson is in the purple shirt).
In November, enCore announced it had restarted production at the previously producing Rosita site as the first step in in its South Texas production pipeline strategy utilizing the In-Situ Recovery production process.
Known as ISR, the technology will be utilized at the company’s Texas production facilities, “resulting in a lower cost and environmentally friendly method of uranium extraction,” the company says on its website. ISR is aimed at sourcing uranium with “minimal surface disruption” while requiring “minimal water use and impact.”
Besides its Rosita and South Texas facilities, the company also operates projects in South Dakota, Wyoming, and New Mexico.
“We’re very pleased to have our first uranium production underway at enCore, and we’re honored to be both the first uranium producer in Texas in 10 years and the newest uranium producer in the United States,” Goranson said in a November statement. “With these monumental achievements at hand, we continue to push for our second uranium processing plant, the Alta Mesa CPP, to commence production in early 2024.”
The Alta Mesa project is also located in South Texas.
Founded in Vancouver, Canada, in 2009, enCore notes that nuclear power is America’s “largest source of carbon-free electricity” and is “an essential part of the U.S. clean energy portfolio,” generating nearly 20% of U.S. electricity and nearly 55% of the nation’s emissions-free generation—more than all other sources combined.
