“It all started with a folding table and chairs, a laptop, a vision, and a get-stuff-done mentality.”

That vision and “get-stuff-done” mindset has fueled McKinney-based Albers Aerospace’s growth and innovation for nearly a decade. Founded in 2014 by retired Marine John Albers, the family of defense and space manufacturing companies operates to deliver “top products while improving employees’ lives.”
The business began modestly, as the team described. Through Albers’ vision and determination, Albers Aerospace has grown into a diversified portfolio in IT, aerospace, government services, and more.
Led by veterans with nearly a century of combined experience, the company takes a lean, nimble, and adaptive approach. “We don’t use the term ’employees.’ We’re teammates,” President and CEO Albers said in a 2022 Executive Biz interview.
His military background instilled leadership lessons that translate to business: “The Marine Corps taught me a lot about leadership. I haven’t forgotten those lessons because I think they were and are applicable across the spectrum,” he said in the publication. “At the end of the day, people are people.”
In the interview, Albers said the focus is on “strategically driving our innovative technologies” to equip warfighters faster. “
“In this sector, acquisitions create another level of growth,” he added.
In November 2022, Albers invested $1 million in Hop Flyt to enhance the design and production of hybrid electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for military use. Albers is the exclusive DoD license holder for Hop Flyt’s line of eVTOLs.
The Hop Flyt partnership exemplifies Albers Aerospace’s commitment to developing new technologies to serve military needs quickly and cost-effectively, the company said at the time.
