Football-field-sized prefab structures weighing as much as 12 Dreamliners now stand at DFW. The $4 billion Terminal F expansion, which doubled in scope this May to 31 gates, is billed as the largest modular airport project ever.
American Airlines and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport unveiled plans Thursday for the airport's sixth terminal—Terminal F—that will enable both to "continue growing together." American and DFW have increased the planned investment in Terminal F to around $4 billion—aiming to create what will be DFW’s "signature terminal experience," operated entirely by American Airlines.
Since taking his post in 2013, Sean Donohue has helped DFW Airport become the third-busiest airport in the world and set the stage for DFW's $9 billion capital improvement program, featuring a reimagined Terminal C and a new Terminal E. The airport's board is initiating a global search for his successor.
The request for proposals comes as the airport prepares to begin construction on more than $5 billion worth of new terminal facilities later this year. Wanted: everything from grab-and-go to sit-down restaurants to retail services.
