The prospect of building a bank for the AI era from scratch was enough to pull Greg Quarles from the top job at another bank. Now the veteran regulator and three-time bank CEO explains why he joined the upstart reinventing how money moves—and the 25-year-old founder he calls “the brightest guy I’ve ever met.”
Founded this year, Stablecore said its platform enables community and regional banks and credit unions to offer stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and digital asset products. News of its funding round follows Congress' July passage of the GENIUS Act, which creates licensing and regulatory requirements for domestic payment stablecoin issuers and standards for participation in the U.S.
The solution developed by Shinhan Bank and a global megabank outside of Korea enables cross-border funds to be sent and received in a locally denominated stablecoin with "remarkably low fees." The solution is built using the Hedera Token Service and Hedera Consensus Service.
