As it announced a new $100 billion commitment to manufacturing in America Monday—for a planned total of $600 billion over the next four years—Apple said a lot of that money will be spent in Sherman, 60 miles north of Dallas. Its partners there include Texas Instruments, GlobalWafers America, and Coherent, which makes the lasers that enable FaceID on iPhones and iPads.
Local Tech Hub consortium members made their pitches remotely Thursday to representatives of more than 100 companies and academia attending the meeting in Hsinchu City, Taiwan.
