Dallas-Based LevelBlue Closes Acquisition of Trustwave, Forming ‘World’s Largest’ MSSP

LevelBlue—formerly known as AT&T Cybersecurity before its spinout as a standalone business last year—said the deal makes it "the world’s largest pure-play" managed security services provider, with the broadest and most comprehensive portfolio of managed security, offensive security, strategic advisory, incident response, and security software.

Scott White has been appointed as the company's new CEO. After his retirement and this planned executive transition, founder Rob Davis will serve as executive chairman and continue to support Critical Start's mission of stopping customer business disruption by preventing breaches.

Plano-based Critical Start—which says its mission is "delivering badass cybersecurity"—raised the $215 million strategic growth investment from Austin's Vista Equity Partners. The move comes as ransomware attacks increased 104% in North America last year, and as other Dallas-area cybersecurity firms have been recent targets of $525M to $1B acquisitions and investments.
