Connected Dallas Announces First Community Anchor Site, Expanded Website

The site in South Dallas' Innercity Community Development Corp. will provide access to computers, WiFi, one-on-one support, and digital training programs. The Connected Dallas program is supported by philanthropic investments by AT&T, Santander Consumer USA Foundation, and The Dallas Foundation.

Up to 42% of Dallas households lack a fixed connection to the internet. Without the tools and know-how to connect to the digital world, people can be left behind, especially in economically disadvantaged parts of the city. DIA is working to change that with its Digital Ambassador program.
Now, with help from the Dallas Foundation and Santander Consumer USA—and a $1 million grant from AT&T—DIA aims to get people not just connected, but thriving.

Santander Consumer will partner with tech and community nonprofit Comp-U-Dopt to provide free high-speed Internet connectivity to up to 10,000 Dallas student households, along with free laptop computers, training, and support to eligible low-income residents.
It's the first step in a two-year program to include several other cities, funded by a total of $35 million in grants from Dallas-based Santander Consumer's foundation.
