‘Promise Plus’: UT System to Offer Free Tuition to Qualifying Texas Students

Aimed at families with adjusted gross income of $100K or less, the plan includes an immediate infusion of $35 million directly to the nine UT System campuses—including UT Dallas, UT Arlington, and UNT. This makes the UT System the first in Texas—and one of the few in the U.S.—to offer such a sweeping financial aid benefit.

UTA alumnus Kelcy Warren, executive chairman and chairman of the board of directors of Dallas-based Energy Transfer LP, has made a $12 million gift to help elevate UT Arlington to the forefront of the growing resource and energy engineering (REE) field. "Texas faces a critical need for highly skilled graduates who can manage energy resources," Warren says, "and this innovative REE program will help meet that demand.”
