Led by Irving's Fluor Corporation in a joint venture with Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, the 10-mile-long TxDOT project included the reconstruction and widening of lanes on I-35E between U.S. 67 and I-30 and on U.S. 67 between I-20 and I-35E. Along this stretch of I-35, phase one of Southern Gateway Park—a sprawling planned deck park near the Dallas Zoo—has been decked out for its continuing construction.

When you think of Irving, you probably don't think "submarines." Well, you should start. Irving is home to the headquarters of Fluor, whose subsidiary Fluor Marine Propulsion got the one-year extension to work on naval nuclear propulsion technology at Navy Nuclear Laboratory sites in New York, Pennsylvania, and Idaho.
