Ericsson To Deploy Lifelike Humanoid Robot at Its Plano Experience Center

Toronto-based Realbotix is pioneering "human-centric robotics" with patented technologies that enable lifelike expressions, vision, and social interaction. The robot model being deployed in Plano will serve as "a dynamic, adaptable human–robot interface" for workforce and visitor applications, the company said.

Late last month, Sweden-based Ericsson hosted an event at its USA 5G Smart Factory in the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of Lewisville. The expanded 300,000-square-foot "highly automated" manufacturing plant employees more than 500 people is "at the forefront of building the next generation of 5G infrastructure in the United States," the company says. To support its mission, Ericsson announced an additional investment of $50 million in the plant on top of an initial $100 million announced in 2020.

Ericsson Sets Data Speed Record of Over 1Gbps During 5G Indoor Trial

Ericsson said the trial was conducted over a live Citizen's Broadband Radio Service network at its North America HQ in Plano. Now, with the ability to get 5G gigabit speeds indoors along with advanced capabilities, Ericsson says enterprises can feel confident in deploying Private 5G networks.

"We're excited to continue pushing the envelope of what is possible with 5G," Ericsson's Paul Challoner said.

The 27,500-square-foot new HQ—in partnership with UT Dallas—anchors Richardson's 1,200-acre Innovation Quarter. Six new UT Dallas research centers will initially launch at the IQ HQ, helping to build businesses and commercialize research coming from the nearby university.
