Set for Oct. 30 at the George W. Bush Presidential Center, this year's Venture Dallas conference will assemble more than 500 entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders for a day of transformative ideas and connections.
Backed by the Department of Defense and $200 million in private capital, the new facility helps companies prototype and scale battery technologies for both commercial use and national defense. The launch comes at a time when supply chain independence is a growing priority.
Government and industry leaders recently got a first look.
A joint venture between Kyle Bass' Dallas-based Hayman Capital Management and Florida's Serengeti Asset Management, Rochefort has been authorized under the federal Critical Technology Initiative to help improve America's economic and national security by providing capital to rapidly growing small businesses.
The $30 million UTD-led project aims "to accelerate the transition and scaling of next-generation batteries," while reducing dependence on scarce critical materials. Led by UTD biology professor Dr. Kyeongjae Cho, the initiative will include the construction of a new research facility at the Richardson IQ.

The DoD, under the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research, is funding three experts from UNT’s College of Engineering who hope to give scientists better insight on how metal alloys used by the military and aerospace industries deform under stress.
