Founder Mohammed Nije grew up without electricity. Now his Dallas startup, Janta Power, is piloting his power-dense solar technology at DFW and airports worldwide—earning global recognition for a design he says uses less land, generates more power, and can lower energy costs.
With more than 2,000 sunflower lanyards—worn by travelers who may need extra time, space, or support—already issued,
and sensory rooms in development, DFW Airport is creating a travel experience that recognizes different needs and reduces stress for all kinds of travelers.
From a new "showcase space" at its Richardson HQ to a new regional distribution center near DFW Airport to a huge national distribution center being built near Fort Worth, Lennox International is ramping up its North Texas footprint. The payoff? Improving "speed-to-market" and driving "long-term value" for its customers.
During simulations at NASA’s FutureFlight Central, air taxi operations were simulated buzzing around the busy, complex Dallas-Fort Worth airspace. Joby and NASA's goal: evaluating how this next-gen traffic can be integrated into today’s airspace using existing air traffic control tools and procedures.
While the airport's announcement didn't include images of the solutions to be demonstrated, here's an example of a wireless charging system and automated valet parking system. [Video still: Hyundai]
A series of five EV charging demonstrations will be offered from May through August at various customer parking lots across DFW Airport, hosted by the airport’s Innovation and Planning teams in partnership with consultant STV. The demos will offer the chance to test next-gen EV charging solutions—such as autonomous robotic wireless charging, on-demand charging, and apps that enable charging control from anywhere on earth.
The alliance—aimed at frequent international travelers worldwide—has member airlines from around the world, including American plus seven others that fly out of DFW Airport: Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Qantas. Other international airlines are in oneworld as well.
"With our new home in Fort Worth, we anticipate even closer collaboration with American and our member airlines as we work side by side to further grow and strengthen oneworld," says CEO Rob Gurney.
Coppell-based Dave & Buster's is set to acquire Dallas-based Main Event Entertainment, which will continue to operate as a distinct brand. The combination of the family entertainment innovators is a "transformational opportunity," the companies say.
During Eric Johnson’s term as Mayor of Dallas, he's had to respond to two major crises so far: the ongoing pandemic and an increase in violent crime. Mayor Johnson addressed these issues in The Year-End Conversation and also touched on initiatives to develop Dallas’ workforce and transform the city into a destination for startup companies.
The Texas-led conservation nonprofit founded by former First Lady Laura Bush honored 21 companies with Texas operations that are committed to conservation. Here are this year's North Texas honorees.
