A new patent assigned to Toyota shows an autonomous driving system that transmit optical power beams to aerial vehicles that convert optical power to electrical power. Figure 4 of Toyota’s patent No. 10579069 shows an autonomous vehicle about to enter into an obstacle area where it can’t transmit an optical power beam to the aerial vehicle.
