Wells Fargo Invests in South Dallas’ Growth With $6.8M in Philanthropic Grants

Days after opening its new $570 million campus in Las Colinas, Wells Fargo unveiled new grants focused on South Dallas' revitalization and economic growth. The funding will be used for small business development, affordable housing, job creation, and commercial property rehabilitation, including restoration of the historic Forest Theater.

Southern Dallas small business owners are about to get a new space to connect, collaborate, and help grow their companies.
Comerica Bank is transforming the first floor of its R.L. Thornton location into Comerica BusinessHQ—an 8,000-SF collaborative space offering a mix of coworking spaces, incubation fellowships, and technical assistance. The center will address three big needs: "capital, cultivation, and connectivity."

Local developer and consulting firm Innovan Neighborhoods is leading the roundtable's efforts to increase affordable housing in the region while accelerating the revitalization of underserved communities around Dallas. With initial funding from JPMorgan Chase, "flexible capital" could help boost needed projects.
"When we put funds and resources behind innovative solutions, we can see neighborhoods and communities set up for long-term success,” says Maggie Parker, Innovan's founder and managing partner.

The American Rescue Act initiative aims to reduce barriers that underrepresented and underserved entrepreneurs often face in accessing the programs they need to recover, grow, or start their businesses. The Dallas Entrepreneur Center will use the grant to engage efforts with six Dallas-area organizations: Veteran Women’s Enterprise Center; LiftFund; TruFund; Dallas College; BCL of Texas; and WiNGS.
