EV Charging Tech Firm Wallbox Opens its First U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Arlington

The $70 million, 130,000-square-foot Arlington manufacturing facility will initially produce Wallbox's Pulsar Plus smart home EV charger. Next year, production will begin on the company's Hypernova EV chargers, which can add up to 100 miles of range in five minutes. “Today only 3% of the chargers required globally for the next decade have been installed," says Enric Asunción, CEO of Wallbox. "Bringing Wallbox’s manufacturing capabilities to the U.S. significantly bolsters our ability to meet U.S. needs, deliver to public funding programs, and drive the energy transition.”

The 300-unit One Rangers Way will be "one of the most luxurious, resort-style apartment communities in the country" when it opens in 2024, the city of Arlington says. Just a short walk from Choctaw Stadium, Globe Life Field, and AT&T Stadium, it will provide the "missing piece" at the heart of the Arlington Entertainment District, said Rangers EVP Rob Matwick. "One of the things that was very important to our company, to the Rangers, to the city, was that we create a 365 community and a heartbeat for the city," Blake Cordish, principal at The Cordish Companies, said at the groundbreaking. “To do that, you need great residential."

Global EV Charging Firm Wallbox Selects Arlington for Its First North American Plant

In June, Wallbox announced its plan to go public through a $1.5 billion merger with Westbury, N.Y.-based SPAC Kensington Capital Acquisition Corp. Local hiring for the Arlington plant will begin immediately, Wallbox says, with on-site retooling set to begin in October. The new factory is anticipated to create around 250 direct jobs in the region by 2030—and manufacture 500,000 units annually by then as well.
