Hike Nation was first-place winner Sunday at the 3rd Annual North Dallas Startup Weekend: Fitness event that was held at NoD Coworking in Dallas.
Event judge Ken Tabor, a software architect, announced Hike Nation’s win, making the group eligible for a $1,000 Dev Mountain Scholarship, three months of office space at NoD Coworking, and a chance to pitch to Seed Sumo, a highly competitive College Station, Texas-based startup accelerator, for $50,000 in seed money.
Hike Nation finished ahead of second place group Senior Fit, introduced by Brian Sullivan, director of user research and usability at Sabre; and third place winner FitNav, which was introduced by judge Mai Lyn Ngo, a Dallas fitness and food blogger.
On Sunday, teams presented their ideas to a panel of judges, who after a 30-minute break, returned to begin the awards ceremony. The awards culminated 54 hours of fitness, technology, and entrepreneurship mentoring to develop new startup ideas and business plans.
Senior Fit was honored with the award for Best UX Design, and Intelligent Interval was voted the crowd favorite.
