Southlake VC Firm Gore Range Capital Names Entrepreneur-in-Residence

Among his responsibilities, David Hashemi will actively source and evaluate potential investments and will provide medical, dermatologic, and strategic expertise to drive growth of existing portfolio companies.

Gore Range Capital, which moved its headquarters from New York to Southlake in 2021, announced that David A. Hashemi, MD, MBA, a senior dermatology resident physician at Harvard Medical School, has joined the firm as entrepreneur-In-residence.

“We’re excited to have David join us. He brings a wealth of knowledge, curiosity, and energy to this opportunity and we look forward to his contributions,” Ethan Rigel, founding and Managing Partner of Gore Range Capital said in a statement. Gore Range Capital is the only venture capital firm focused exclusively on innovation in the skin health and aging space.

Gore Range was founded in 2015 to invest in early-stage skin health businesses. The firm partners and works closely with industry pioneers who are finding new treatments, technologies, and techniques for dermatological conditions and better skin health.

Among his responsibilities, Hashemi will actively source and evaluate potential investments and will provide medical, dermatologic, and strategic expertise to drive the growth of existing portfolio companies.

Also, the firm said he will guide and support the quarterly meeting of Gore’s industry advisory board.

“I have a strong interest in innovation within Skin Health specifically, and healthcare more broadly, and know that with Gore Range, I will have the opportunity to work with an extensive network of leaders driving the future of the field,” Hashemi said in a statement.

Hashemi is completing his final year of dermatology residency at Harvard Medical School, having completed internship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the firm said.

He holds an MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a post-baccalaureate certificate from Johns Hopkins University, and an undergraduate degree in economics Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago.

Before pursuing a career in medicine, he was an engagement manager in management consulting, and subsequently director of corporate strategy at a Fortune 500 entertainment
company.

Hashemi has published numerous articles in such influential dermatology journals as JAMA Dermatology, JAAD, and Dermatologic Surgery, and has given multiple lectures on surgical, medical, and cosmetic dermatology. His areas of interest include surgical and procedural dermatology, oncodermatology, and cutaneous oncology, clinical trials, and innovation within dermatology and medicine.

Gore Range Capital said it blends the hands-on approach of operationally focused private equity with the early-stage guidance needed in venture capital. Gore Range offers not just
capital, but operational, clinical, and scientific expertise that leverages its industry relationships and its renowned industry advisory board.
