Plano-based Ribbon Communications Inc. announced that industry executive Joni Roberts has been named chief marketing officer, senior vice president, and that she will run the company’s global marketing strategy, marketing organization, and investor relations.
She will report to CEO Bruce McClelland.
The CEO says Roberts’ wide-ranging experience, together with tech acumen, a deep understanding of its business, and customer focus will be a tremendous asset to Ribbon.
“Improving brand awareness amongst customers and investors is a key objective as we execute on our strategy to grow our business and establish Ribbon as a major networking technology provider,” McClelland said in a statement. The CEO added that Roberts’ commitment to DEI and her experience as a woman in telecom for three decades “will bring a critical perspective and enhance her impact.”
Before Ribbon, Roberts was vice president of sales and business development for North America at RAD Data. Prior to RAD, she ran a global sales team at ADVA where she spearheaded efforts to open new markets in Latin America. Roberts has held senior positions at Fujitsu, Coriant, Dell, and Nortel.
“Ribbon has the solutions portfolio, global presence and top-notch talent that position it for success,” Roberts said in a statement. “I look forward to collaborating with the team, our customers, partners and prospects to clearly articulate our value proposition and capture a significant share of the multi-billion dollar annual investment in networking and communications technology by Enterprises and Service Providers.”
Ribbon Communications delivers communications software, IP, and optical networking solutions to service providers, enterprises and critical infrastructure sectors around the world.
