‘Revolutionary’ Virtual Production Stages Opened by Trilogy Studios in Fort Worth

Now you see it, now you don't: Virtual film production can bring limitless vistas onto a soundstage with the flick of a digital button. Now a new three-stage virtual production studio is set to bring creative visions to life, via a partnership between Fort Worth's Trinity Broadcasting Network and Seattle-based integrator Optic8.

Movie, TV, and commercial production in Fort Worth just got kicked up a notch—both virtually and in high-tech real life. Trilogy Studios has opened a new facility in the city featuring Texas’ largest cinematic volume stage. With a 23 feet ceiling height and an enveloping width of 157 feet, the sprawling stage offers “unparalleled opportunities to create stunning visual narratives,” Trilogy Studios said.

The facility also includes two other volume stages including a Car Processing stage designed for car commercials or interior moving vehicle shots and a Commercial Stage featuring a curved 50-foot-wide by 20-foot-tall LED screen, primarily intended for commercial shoots.

Trilogy Studios is the result of a partnership between Fort Worth-based Trinity Broadcasting Network and Seattle-based Optic8. All three stages feature cutting-edge technology from integrator Optic8, enabling filmmakers to “unleash their creativity without the constraints of traditional logistics or physical locations without ever leaving the comfort of the studio.”

As Dallas Innovates wrote when we first told you about the project last April, a virtual production stage can bring an entire world to life—from the deepest jungle to the hottest desert to skyscraper-clogged cities and more. Instead of spending a fortune on location fees and battling bugs, 120-degree temps and worse, producers can ease back in their director’s chairs and watch the action unfold in climate-controlled comfort.

“The entertainment landscape is rapidly evolving, and virtual production is at the heart of this transformation,” Joe Worth, director at Trilogy Studios, said in a statement. “We’re proud to offer filmmakers a space where their storytelling can transcend the limits of traditional production. Whether you’re filming a high-stakes action scene, a serene nature backdrop, or an otherworldly fantasy environment, our stage has the capability to deliver unmatched quality and creativity.”

The newly opened studio offers a combined 19,000 square feet of space across all 3 stages. Separately, clients will have access to production offices for crew, parking that can accommodate more than 250 vehicles, multiple loading ramps, and docks that can accommodate 18-wheelers inside the facility for unloading gear, 24/7 security, and a separate 100,000 square foot facility next door, Trilogy said.

This facility can also serve large-scale projects that require dedicated areas for set design building, prop storage, wardrobe, and additional production offices and meeting rooms as needed.
