Assignee(s): BNSF Railway Company (Fort Worth, TX)
Law Firm: Whitaker Chalk Swindle Schwartz PLLC (2 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 18051275 on 10/31/2022 (715 days app to issue)
Abstract: A system and method for virtual block stick circuits is presented. The present disclosure implements specialized algorithms adapted to determine the true status of a virtual block based on multiple inputs from different perspectives. In one embodiment, the system can use the far house perspective of that virtual track segment and the PTC hazard for the near virtual track segment directly adjacent to the near house uses the near house perspective of that virtual track segment. For the middle virtual track segments, the near house perspectives of the middle virtual track segments are held TRUE if they are already TRUE when the train first enters the block, using stick circuits for the near house perspective of the middle track circuits. The vital application can then indicate the true state of the virtual track segment as occupied (FALSE), to protect the train from trains that follow.

Systems and methods for utilizing acoustic sensing to minimize a potential of damage to fiber optic cables
Patent No. 12117798
Inventor(s): Glenn A. Wellbrock (Wylie, TX), Tiejun J. Xia (Richardson, TX)
Assignee(s): Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc. (Basking Ridge, NJ)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 17088187 on 11/03/2020 (1442 days app to issue)
Abstract: A device may receive sensing data that is produced by an environment associated with a fiber optic cable. Based on the sensing data, the device may determine a sensing profile, which indicates a measure of vibration as a function of distance along the fiber optic cable and as a function of time. The device may receive new sensing data produced by the environment. The device may determine that the new sensing data satisfies a vibration deviation criteria, relative to the sensing profile, for a duration threshold. By satisfying the vibration deviation criteria for the duration threshold, the new sensing data may indicate that the environment includes an activity associated with an increased likelihood of damage to the fiber optic cable relative to the sensing data. The device may perform one or more actions based on the new sensing data satisfying the vibration deviation criteria for the duration threshold.

Inventor(s): Shyam Jagannathan (Bangalore, , IN), Son Hung Tran (Murphy, TX), Timothy David Anderson (University Park, TX)
Assignee(s): Texas Instruments Incorporated (Dallas, TX)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 17583380 on 01/25/2022 (994 days app to issue)
Abstract: Software instructions are executed on a processor within a computer system to configure a streaming engine with stream parameters to define a multidimensional array. The stream parameters define a size for each dimension of the multidimensional array and a specified width for a selected dimension of the array. Data is fetched from a memory coupled to the streaming engine responsive to the stream parameters. A stream of vectors is formed for the multidimensional array responsive to the stream parameters from the data fetched from memory. When the selected dimension in the stream of vectors exceeds the specified width, the streaming engine inserts null elements into each portion of a respective vector for the selected dimension that exceeds the specified width in the stream of vectors. Stream vectors that are completely null are formed by the streaming engine without accessing the system memory for respective data.

In particular, a cooperative controller may control multiple connected vehicles within a traffic environment. In certain embodiments, the cooperative controller may assign each connected vehicle a traffic role, based in part on their situation within the traffic environment. In some embodiments, this traffic role may also be based on a ”priority level” for the connected vehicle which corresponds to a desired travel time. Once traffic roles have been assigned, the cooperative controller may control each connected vehicle according to a driving policy associated with its assigned traffic role.

Law Firm: Cozen O”Connor (7 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 17535214 on 11/24/2021 (1056 days app to issue)
Abstract: An angle-of-arrival antenna system uses two orthogonal arrays of patch antenna elements to measure the angle of arrival of a wireless signal irrespective of its polarization. Each antenna element has an antenna patch located over a corresponding ground patch. A shorting wall directly electrically connects one edge of the antenna patch to a corresponding edge of the underlying ground patch. The edge of the ground patch is also directly connected to a system ground plane. No other edges of the ground patch are connected to the system ground plane. The shorting wall acts as an impedance that isolates the ground patch from the system ground plane, and therefore improves isolation between the antenna elements. The antenna system may be constructed using conventional circuit-board fabrication techniques by implementing each shorting wall as an array of plated through-holes or slots.
