Downhill target acceleration control
Patent No. 12291204

Inventor(s): Thomas S. Hawley (Ann Arbor, MI)
Assignee(s): Toyota Motor Engineering Manufacturing North America, Inc. (Plano, TX)
Law Firm: HAYNES AND BOONE, LLP (Local + 13 other metros)
Application No., Date, Speed: 18166375 on 02/08/2023 (818 days app to issue)

Abstract: A downhill target acceleration control system for a vehicle is provided, which includes the vehicle, a road grade sensor, an acceleration sensor, and a processor. The processor stores an acceleration target value, determines the mass of the vehicle, and detects whether a downhill acceleration of the vehicle exceeds the target value by more than a threshold amount. If so, the processor is configured to receive and implement a driver-initiated change to the downhill target acceleration value, without input from the accelerator or brake. Based on the downhill acceleration, the target value, and the mass, the processor generates a negative power train torque request to reduce the downhill acceleration of the vehicle. If the acceleration of the vehicle is then below the target acceleration by more than a second threshold amount, the processor reduces the negative power train torque request to increase the downhill acceleration of the vehicle.

Abstract: The capabilities of a gas or liquid chromatography-molecular rotational resonance (GC/LC-MRR) instrument exceed those of high-resolution mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance in terms of selectivity, resolution, and compound identification. MRR detection provides high specificity for selective gas- or liquid-phase separations, including the ability to resolve co-eluting peaks and isomeric compounds without any loss of specificity or accuracy. MRR can perform both qualitative identification and absolute quantification of analyte components separated by GC or LC without a reference standard. GC-MRR is ideal for compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA) and can identify enantiomers and enantiomeric excess. GC-MRR measurements are especially useful for studying biosynthetic/degradation and geochemical isotopic compounds.

Application No., Date, Speed: 17313410 on 05/06/2021 (1461 days app to issue)

Abstract: The present disclosure addresses the problem of UAVs pursuing a swarm of target UAVs. The target UAVs are flying together as a flock that are initially modeled as a circle having a time-varying radius or an arbitrarily-shaped swarm that may change in size. Guidance of the pursuing UAVs is developed based on a collision cone framework, wherein the pursuing UAVs cooperatively steer the velocity vector of any point in their convex hull, to intercept the target. Also, the problem of capturing a swarm of intruder UAVs using a net manipulated by a team of defense UAVs is disclosed. The intruder UAV swarm may be stationary, in motion, and even maneuver. Collision cones in 3-dimensional space are used to determine the strategy used by the net carrying UAVs to maneuver or manipulate the net in space in order to capture the intruders.
