In this era when gaps in the supply chain are breaking out all around us, Dallas-based enterprise AI software platform provider o9 Solutions has a new tool, Supply Sensing, to help companies better manage supply chain disruptions.
o9’s Supply Sensing uses AI and machine learning to predict local effects of macro-level shocks like weather patterns, transportation disruptions, and employment fluctuations and can offer paths to avoid future roadblocks.
Tool looks at three primary factors
The new tool looks at three primary factors impacting the supply chain: predicting major weather events, the availability of transportation, and the probability of a disruption to a specific supplier, per a company announcement on Monday. o9’s digital twin technology can map those impacts to various tiers in the manufacturer’s suppliers and recommend solutions to adjust sources to reduce negative impacts.
The tech is able to predict changes in key commodities and provide alerts up to 12 months before the supplier is affected.
Predicting disruptions ‘before they occur’
“In the wake of an unprecedented number of disruptions, supply chain leaders are seeking new ways to predict disruptions better before they occur,” Chakri Gottemukkala, Co-Founder and CEO, o9 Solutions, said in a statement. “o9 Supply Sensing takes the tried and true methods manufacturers have long been using to understand consumer demand and applies them to predicting and steering clear of future supply disruptions. Equipped with the insights needed to react weeks or even months sooner to potential supply availability and pricing changes to key commodities, CPG companies that operate even the most complex global supply chains will benefit from maximized product availability and service levels while avoiding sudden cost shocks.”
The new Supply Sensing solution is powered by o9 Solution’s Digital Brain platform, the company’s lynchpin technology and a key to the success of this Unicorn startup, valued at more than $2.7B earlier this year. o9’s Digital Brain AI platform addresses enterprise business planning and decision-making through graph-based enterprise modeling, big data analytics, advanced algorithms for scenario planning, collaborative portals, easy-to-use interfaces, and cloud-based delivery.
The Digital Brain can measure the likelihood of an event occurring and recommend mitigating actions, plus help with integrated business planning for faster decision-making, and analyze supply chains to optimize business performance . And with a new release in August, it aims to measure sustainability as well.
Founded by Gottemukkala and Sanjiv Sidhu in 2009 and rolling out their tech platform in 2014, o9 Solutions has skyrocketed to success in the last two years, growing by more than 400% in 2021 alone. The timing looks to be right for predictive analytics and prescriptive solutions, with the company drawing clients from around the globe, including Google, Walmart, Nike, and Starbucks.
