Since its founding in 2017, Plano-based Stryve Foods has sought to disrupt the snack and CPG categories with its premium, all-natural, air-dried meat products. Sold under the brands of Braaitime, Kalahari, Stryve, and Vacadillos, the Keto- and Paleo-diet friendly snacks aim to be “some of the healthiest shelf-stable snacks available today.”
Until now, though, they’ve been found only on shelves aimed at humans—winning enough loyal customers that the company went public in 2021 in a $170 million SPAC merger that listed it on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol SNAX.
But what’s good for man can also be great for man’s best friend, the company decided. Today Stryve announced its entrance into the pet food category by launching High Steaks, “an innovative brand dedicated to providing high-quality, high-protein, human-grade pet treats.”
The treats aim to be “the perfect on-the-go solution” for an active, and healthy dog, the company says. Featuring air-dried beef as the main ingredient, each treat is formulated to deliver “the essential proteins that pets need for energy, muscle development, and optimal health,” Stryve said—prioritizing nutrition without compromising on taste.
‘The Steaks are high’
“We’re excited to introduce High Steaks to pet owners who want the best for their companions,” Katie Brenner, Chief Customer Officer at Stryve Foods, said in a statement. “Our mission is to create treats that not only taste great but also contribute to the health and happiness of pets everywhere. The ‘Steaks’ are high, and your pet’s health comes first.”
Per the company, here are key features of the new dog treat line:
- High-Protein Formulations: “Packed with essential nutrients, High Steaks treats provide pets with the energy they need to lead active lives.”
- Ultra Clean Ingredients: “We believe in transparency; our treats contain no artificial additives, fillers, or preservatives, making them a wholesome choice for pets.”
- Variety of Flavors: High Steaks offers a range of flavors including beef, beef + liver, and beef + sweet potato.
High Steaks treats will be available for purchase beginning in October on Stryve’s website. The company said it plans to secure retail distribution for High Steaks “in the coming quarters” to further bolster its entry into the high-growth pet category.
