Veteran IT executive Gertrude Van Horn has joined Plano-based go-to-market AI-native analytics platform Cien.ai as senior vice president of information systems.
The company said her appointment coincides with Cien.ai’s new Data Governance Capabilities that allow clients to expertly control data management and protection. Van Horn was inducted into the Tech Titans Hall of Fame in 2023, recognizing her leadership and contributions to the North Texas technology industry.
“Business runs on data, and Trude’s expertise recognizes our clients’ interest in harnessing AI for growth while focusing on strict adherence to data security and privacy,” Cien.ai Co-Founder Margot Carter said in a statement. “Trude supports our internal and external focus to innovate, drive revenue, cut costs, and minimize risk.”
Cien.ai said that Van Horn will oversee the deployment of Agentic AI and the evolution of Cien.ai’s internal data systems, and act as a liaison to the broader ecosystem of IT leaders and vendors who seek transformative AI solutions.
The company said that Van Horn is an award-winning global tech executive with 20 years as a CIO. It said her diverse sector experience includes American Express, JPMorgan, NCH Corp., Victoria’s Secret, Office Depot, and Jo-Ann Stores. Van Horn also is an Instructor for SMU’s Tech CxO Leadership Excellence program.
“I’m proud to be part of Cien.ai, a game changer for companies to use their data to accelerate revenue growth,” Van Horn said. “IT professionals are often caught between the need to secure corporate data and the demand to leverage it for business growth. Cien.ai’s platform is Secure by Design and delivers data integrity, transparency, and actionable recommendations for B2B businesses.”
The company said that Van Horn’s appointment aligns with its new Data Governance Capabilities, ensuring no unnecessary copies of customer data are stored outside the customer’s own cloud. That is a sought-after capability for B2B organizations looking to reduce their risk profile, Cien.ai said.
“Our platform empowers clients to prescribe exactly where data is stored, as well as who can access it,” Cien.ai CTO Ben Strum said.
