New Dallas Children’s Museum Announces Board Members, Preliminary Launch Plans

Currently exploring locations in southeast Dallas, the museum said its exhibits, programs, and partnerships with the community will empower children to become active and responsible citizens making positive contributions to their world.

The Dallas Children’s Museum board of directors has announced preliminary plans to bring a dedicated children’s museum to Dallas with a mission to provide a safe and welcoming space that fosters a love of learning and encourages children to discover their potential.

“Children’s museums hold the power to inspire creativity and imagination in ways that go beyond traditional learning,” Patty Hussey, chair of the Dallas Children’s Museum board of directors, said in a statement. “Through immersive exhibits and interactive experiences, we’re committed to making the Dallas Children’s Museum a welcoming place for every child, regardless of background or ability. I’m passionate about offering young children early exposure to STEAM in a hands-on setting, creating opportunities to cultivate a lasting love of discovery and knowledge.”

By following a STEAM-based learning approach, the museum said its exhibits, programs, and partnerships with the community will empower children to become active and responsible citizens making positive contributions to their world.

The museum said a key aspect of the preliminary plans is its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, ensuring all children will have the opportunity to participate and thrive. That includes programming that accommodates for sensory processing sensitivities, neurodivergent learners, and disabilities of all kinds, while aiming to educate children about the differences in people that make us all special.

“Among the top 10 largest U.S. cities, Dallas is the only one without a fully dedicated children’s museum. We have outstanding parks and cultural venues in our city for science, art, history, and sports, many of which we hope to partner with to amplify our opportunities for our young learners, and we are passionate about bringing this exciting destination to all of North Texas” Hussey said.
