Jake L. LaCombe has been settling into his new role leading the patent preparation and prosecution practice at Munck Wilson Mandala.
LaCombe, a longtime patent attorney and a senior partner at the Dallas-based firm, was named chair of the patent practice group in March. He now heads the team responsible for preparing and managing patent filings across a broad set of industries. Munck Wilson Mandala represents clients from startups to Fortune 50 companies, the firm said.
Since joining the technology-focused firm in 2011, LaCombe has worked on both domestic and international filings. His portfolio includes technologies such as electrical circuitry, semiconductor devices, telecom systems, software applications, medical devices, and aircraft components.
“Jake has demonstrated technical and legal expertise, making him an invaluable asset to our clients and the firm,” said Global Managing Partner William A. Munck in a statement. Munck added that LaCombe’s ability to navigate complex patent matters and lead cross-functional teams made him “the natural choice” for the position.
LaCombe holds an electrical engineering degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. In addition to his portfolio work, he contributes to the firm’s litigation practice and has played a role in securing jury verdicts that reached into the 10-figure range, according to the firm’s website.
In the announcement, the firm noted that LaCombe’s focus on protecting and maximizing intellectual property is aimed at keeping clients competitive as technologies evolve, translating innovations into business leverage.
“Jake’s expertise, strategic vision, and commitment to innovation have made a lasting impact on our clients,” said David M. Doyle, managing partner of Munck Wilson Mandala’s North Dallas office.
