Irving’s Vesper Energy Installs Over 1 Million Panels at Its Hornet Solar Project

Located in Swisher County at the base of the Texas Panhandle, Vesper's Hornet Solar project is slated to feature 1.36 million solar panels and will deliver 600 MWac of renewable energy—enough to power 160,000 homes annually.

Irving-based Vesper Energy has marked a key milestone on its Hornet Solar project in the Texas Panhandle, surpassing more than 1 million solar panels installed.

Hornet Solar is one of the largest single-phase solar projects in the United States, the company noted.

When completed, the project in Swisher County will feature 1.36 million solar panels and will deliver 600 MWac of renewable energy—enough to power 160,000 homes annually.

“The milestone is a testament to the hard work and seamless coordination between our team, onsite members, and our EPC partner, Blattner Energy,” Vesper Co-CEO Juan Suarez said in a statement. “This achievement brings us one step closer to realizing the full potential of Hornet Solar as a transformative renewable energy asset.”

The project features “bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on a single axis tracking system, maximizing efficiency and energy output,” the company said. It interconnects to Oncor Electric’s transmission system in ERCOT and has already been contracted to provide power to four off-take partners through individual power purchase agreements.

Vesper said the project is on track to reach “full commercialization” by next spring.
