Goodwill Industries of Dallas has partnered with PICKUP to launch on-demand services to streamline donating in recognition of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15.
Addison-based PICKUP is an app developed to let users borrow a pickup truck for buying, selling, moving, or cleaning.
Frisco and Dallas area residents wanting a pickup between Nov. 14-16, need to bag or box their donation items and sit them outside their front door on their scheduled day. PICKUP will collect donations and deliver them to Goodwill. In return, users will receive a donation receipt and a $20 PICKUP gift card.
Requests for pickups Nov. 14-16 in Frisco must be made by Nov. 12. Other Dallas-area residents should make requests by Nov. 16.
Cost is $20 for users in Frisco zip codes 75033, 75034, and 75035. Dallas-area residents outside of those zip codes will receive 20 percent off a standard PICKUP rate with promo code, GOODWILL.
“We are grateful to work with PICKUP to create this pilot program which allows members of the Frisco community easy access to donating their gently used items. We thought America Recycles Day was the ideal time to test this solution and raise awareness of the importance of donating for both the environment and our mission,” said Steve Toledo, Chief Operating Officer of Goodwill Industries of Dallas, in a release.
Items donated to Goodwill Dallas help fund job training programs in the area.
