Communities Foundation of Texas works year-long to build strength and catalyze change in our communities. The organization strives to make giving easy, enjoyable, and effective for those that have a heart for making a difference. Communities Foundation of Texas aims to improve the quality of life for members of our community by investing in their health, wealth, living, and learning. In partnership with individuals, nonprofits, companies, and families, CFT offers a number of programs that connect people to their passions and create opportunities that build strength and impact.
As summer winds down, Communities Foundation of Texas is gearing up for a bustling fall season which kicks off with the largest online giving event in the nation—North Texas Giving Day! On 9.22.22, CFT will power its 14th annual fundraising event, which helps provide crucial funding to nonprofits of all sizes for their yearly programs and their clients in need.
A broad culture of community-wide giving
CFT’s NTX Giving Day has raised $441 million for our community’s nonprofit organizations since its launch in 2009. What began as a tool to help residents and donors find nonprofits transformed into a movement that sparked a broad culture of community-wide giving. In 2021, more than $66 million was raised through 103,000 donors, benefiting more than 3,300 nonprofits across North Texas.
The first of September kicked off Early Giving for NTX Giving Day. Early Giving gives people a head start on supporting their favorite nonprofits and allows more time to connect with new organizations ahead of the big day.
27 cause areas to choose from
This season, Communities Foundation of Texas is encouraging everyone to find their passion and give with purpose. With a heightened focus on each individual’s personal “why,” NTX Giving Day encourages people to discover what matters most to them and support the organizations driving change in those cause areas. With 27 cause areas to choose from, everyone can find a nonprofit that aligns with their passion!
Community-building programs
In addition to NTX Giving Day, Communities Foundation of Texas has several other programs that also help build our community. CFT for Business works with companies of all sizes to deepen their involvement with corporate citizenship and strengthen their relationships with other companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. This program develops and executes clients’ community engagement efforts to align with their business goals.
CFT for Business organizes volunteer events, educational and professional development workshops, and affinity group networking events. Businesses in the CFT for Business network also receive strategic philanthropy services like nonprofit partnership development.

North Texas Giving Day lasts more than a day—its 14th annual event will kick off September 1 and run through September 22. To get both nonprofits and North Texans ready for it, the Communities Foundation of Texas is partnering with software company Mightycause for a new fundraising platform this year. “We want to continue to grow the spirit of giving by engaging and activating more donors as each individual gift, no matter the size, helps the collective,” says CFT Senior VP Monica Christopher.

The Water Cooler at Pegasus Park—the largest shared nonprofit space in Texas — is a place designed to accelerate impact, together. From Big Thought to SVP Dallas to The Trust for Public Land, the 15 ‘exceptional nonprofits' were picked after an application process last summer. They’ll join Water Cooler's five founding tenants.
