Franco Fogliato is stepping in as Fossil Group’s new CEO, taking the reins from interim chief Jeffrey Boyer on Sept. 18, the company announced. Boyer will return to his COO role to smooth the transition through 2025, though he will step down from the company’s board.
Fogliato brings heavyweight experience to the watch and accessories maker. He most recently led Salomon, where he refreshed the sports equipment brand and boosted its bottom line. According to Fossil, Fogliato led a “successful turnaround” of the business, streamlining operations, refreshing the brand identity, and driving strong revenue and profit growth.
“Franco brings over 25 years of consumer industry expertise,” said Kevin Mansell, Fossil’s board chair, in a statement. Mansell noted Fogliato’s “focus, leadership acumen, and disruptive vision” as key strengths.
The new CEO’s resume also includes leadership roles at Columbia Sportswear, where he rose to EVP of Global Omnichannel, and an eight-year stint running Billabong’s European business, which included the Nixon watch brand. Before that, Fogliato held executive roles at The North Face.
Fogliato said he’s honored to join “such an iconic global brand,” adding that he’s seen the company shape the watch industry and develop a leading position in the marketplace over the years. Now, he looks forward to working with the leadership team and board to “revitalize the business,” aiming to “deliver on the full potential of the company’s portfolio.”
Fossil’s lineup spans both owned brands like Fossil and Skagen, and licensed names including Michael Kors and Armani Exchange, according to the company. The firm has been advancing what it calls a “Transform and Grow Plan,” Mansell said.
