Mark Stanley, who led a turnaround at Grapevine-based GameStop, will be the new chief business officer at Playful Corp., a McKinney-based video game developer.
Playful Corp. created the new position after working with Stanley on a collaboration for “Star Child” during his time at GameStop.
“Not only does Playful have a clear vision for its future self, but it’s already well on its way toward achieving this vision,” Stanley said in a release. “I’m proud to be a part of such a talented and visionary collective.”

Before GameStop, Stanley was an executive at Sony where he launched the PlayStation in Latin America.
Playful has developed games such as “Super Lucky’s Tale,” “Star Child,” and “Creativerse.” The company’s goal is create timeless stories with lovable characters.
“[Stanley] has the same heart and soul as the rest of the Playful team,” said Paul Bettner, CEO and founder of Playful and a creator of Words with Friends, in a release. “He brings immense experience building world-class entertainment and I am thrilled that he is joining our Playful mission, to bring joy to the world one game at a time.”

The annual edition publishes in January
